Wavelet analysis is a popular technique within the engineering and science community for data and image analysis. By decomposing a signal using a particular wavelet function, one can construct a picture of the energy within the signal as a function of both spatial dimension (or time) and wavelet scale (or frequency). The wavelet transform is generally useful for signal processing, pattern recognition and image compression. Wavelet analysis is used in numerous fields, including: harmonics, earth system science, geophysics, medical physics, astronomy and remote sensing.
In the IDL Wavelet Toolkit, you will find a set of standard wavelet techniques which have been developed to make it possible for the average IDL user to apply the wavelet method with confidence. Recent advances in significance testing and cross-wavelet analysis have also enhanced the acceptability of wavelet analysis within the scientific community. This includes applications in image and signal processing, time-series analysis, meteorology, and more.
The Wavelet Toolkit is available on all supported IDL platforms. To learn more, get pricing or order the Wavelet Toolkit, contact your IDL Sales Representative.
IDL Dataminer Directly connect to your databases with the IDL Dataminer, an optional database-independent connectivity tool that lets you easily access, query and edit information from one or multiple databases, without being an SQL expert.
Unlike other database interfaces, the IDL Dataminer uses a single, consistent API that gives you access to any ODBC-compliant (Open DataBase Connectivity) database system. Although power users can design their own SQL queries, a set of high-level interface routines is also available to allow you to call a database table without any SQL statements. In fact, you can connect to multiple databases simultaneously, as well as connect to multiple tables within a database.
You don't have to import or export data to and from your database. You can uncover subtle trends and explore relationships in your data while it remains stored in your database.
Switching or combining databases is no problem. Just make calls to the appropriate ODBC driver. You can develop your application on one database and run it on another, or you can run the same application on different databases at different sites. An ODBC application is not affected by new database versions, server changes or network transports. The API is consistent regardless of platform or database, and all DBMS information is available to the user.
With the IDL Dataminer you can:
- Use the same API for all platforms and all databases
- Create, delete, query tables
- Execute arbitrary SQL statements
- Have full function access to ODBC databases
- Get/set/query/add/delete records
- Link to any database with ODBC version 3 compliance
With IDL Dataminer, IDL becomes an even more convenient, flexible product for scientists, engineers and application developers who do not have the time or expertise to write their own database access routines. In addition, IDL Dataminer provides transparent data importing, which means database records are automatically converted to IDL data types.
To use IDL Dataminer, you must have an ODBC driver for your specific databases. IDL Dataminer comes with ODBC drivers for many popular databases. In addition, many database vendors can supply drivers specific to their products.
